Telling a game’s story in seconds—PS5 retail packaging that sells on the shelf and online.
Designing retail packaging for PlayStation® 5 titles is an exercise in visual storytelling within a very limited space. The cover must quickly communicate what the game is about, intrigue the customer enough to pick it up, and then guide them through engaging marketing copy and authentic gameplay screenshots that inform and persuade.
For GS2 Games, I created packaging sleeves and disc art for both the U.S. and Canadian markets, ensuring dual-language compliance and precise implementation into Sony’s complex production templates using Adobe InDesign.
While many gamers now download digitally, the retail package still plays an important role: its design often becomes the foundation for how the game is presented in the PlayStation Store and other online retail environments.
Designing for impact within constraints, from creative vision to strict compliance.
PS5 packaging that works. These two PlayStation® 5 sleeves—Adam Wolfe and Seed of Life—showcase the balance between creative marketing and strict production requirements. With dual-language packaging for Canada (English/French), space is at a premium: the design must capture the essence of the game while also fitting marketing copy, authentic gameplay screenshots, and Sony’s required elements—legal copy, compatibility icons, ESRB ratings, health warnings, and UPC. The result is packaging that remains on-brand, compliant, and compelling on the shelf.
